My post today is about one of my fave purchases for my classroom- Mini-Desks! 

The Many Uses of Mini-Desks

These little "breakfast in bed" lap desks are a classroom essential! I love how handy they are, diverse and they encourage self-regulation (a HUGE part of third grade!). 

Here are some of the ways I use them in my classroom!

Hey everyone! 

So I know this is a hot topic in education now- communication in Math.  Sure my kiddos can answer a sheet filled with adding and subtracting questions with the best of them- no problem.  But when the word problems get thrown in, many students start getting stuck.  Ask them to explain "how to regroup" or "when to regroup" ...eish!  These are skills they aren't used to doing in math. 

For a long time, math and language were two seperate entities... but now students are required to apply language skills to explain their math thinking.  Important- of course!  Easy- not at all!…

Hey everyone! 

So it is here...one of the most hectic, chaotic and fun weeks of the teaching year....the week before Christmas!  While you would think that the kiddos would be extra well-behaved hoping that Santa may overlook previous transgressions, that doesn't seem to be the case... with many interruptions like holiday concerts, assemblies, etc- your once lovely and attentive angels may turn into candy cane-wielding mischief makers! Add in a few indoor recesses due to below -20 degrees weather and you're done for!

Hey everyone!
