Hey everyone!

So i did a little classroom splurge...a chromebook!  This little webbased machine allows my kiddos to access Raz-Kids, Dreambox and "The Cloud" with ease.  It is small and easy to pop into a bin with centers.  It has a microphone and camera built in so running records and snapshots are easy peasy and the charge last for at least 8 hours- score!

I love it because the activities we use the most are easy to access- I bookmark raz kids and dreambox so all my students can quickly access it.  I also love that it was only $300- less than an iPad mini!  We use the Google Cloud for a…

Hey everyone!

So I just LOVE Julia Cook's books! When I saw Laura Candler's post asking for reviews I was eager to jump on board!

We have been reviewing our 'learning skills' in preparation for our 'student-led conferences' and progress reports and I love to do a read-aloud for each skill as an intro.

Then, we brainstorm what the learning skill looks like, how we can do it, and set goals!

On Friday we read I Just Want To Do It My Way (by Julia Cook) to look at self-regulation.  In the story, RJ doesn't stay on task or hand his work in on time.  He realizes he needs to ask for help when…

Hey everyone!

So my lovelies this year LOVE "What does the fox say" so we decided to channel that excitement to an art lesson!

First we showed a cartoon version of the fox video (The real video had people with alcoholic beverages so we decided to opt out..) {https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBCCjhK2CAg}

Then we made our own foxes.  I used the directions at "Art Projects for Kids" as a sample, some kiddos followed it, others drew their own foxes in their own style.

Then, we gave our fox a speech bubble and they wrote sound words that described what THEY thought the fox would say.

It…

Hi there!

So I am getting my kiddos started on Math Centers---Yeehaw!

I am very excited for many reasons #1- it means I can meet with small groups more frequently and efficiently, #2 The students enjoy them and it helps round out their math learning with lots of active practice #3 Once the centers are set up, there is mess weekly prep/marking for me  #4 I love my math centers and am proud to show them off and share them with a new group of littles!

I wanted to cram it all in as quickly as possible (Without overwhelming of course...) so I mapped out my week carefully, balanced carpet…

Hey everyone!

So guided math is one of my fave parts of the day!  I love getting to meet with small groups and really tailor my teaching to the specific needs of a group of students, I love the 'free-flow' of thoughts and converstaional style, and I love seeing my students have "a-ha" moments.

I have heard from so many teachers that guided math has changed their teaching and helped their students, and I couldn't be more thrilled! I am so happy that people are able to use my products in their classroom and that students are having fun while learning math. Due to popular request I have…
